15.–17. august konkurrerte maskiner mot hverandre.

Verdens første verdensmesterskap for roboter ble holdt i Beijing i Kina.

Både barn og voksne kom for å se på.

Men robotene hadde nok ikke klart seg så godt i et ekte VM.

De løp så fort de kunne.

Allikevel kunne menneskene som styrte maskinene, jogge ved siden av.

Noen roboter snublet og falt.

Én måtte bryte under 1.500-meteren fordi den mistet hodet.

Noen roboter konkurrerte også i kickboksing.

En av dem falt i bakken da den prøvde å sparke motstanderen.

Studenter og forskere ved kinesiske universiteter har laget de fleste av robotene.

Og den kinesiske staten sponset robotlekene.

Kina vil vise frem at de kan lage menneskelignende roboter.

Det sier Kyle Chan til avisa the Guardian. Han er forsker ved Princeton University i USA.

Så langt har USA vært best til å lage slike maskiner.

Men nå satser de som styrer i Kina mye penger på roboter.

Så makten kan skifte hender.

For bare ti år siden solgte Kina nesten ingen biler til andre land.

Nå selger de flest biler i verden.

Kanskje blir det slik for robotene også?
